About me
Hello, it's nice to meet you. I'm Debbie and
I've worked in education and social care for over 20 years. I came into counselling quite late in my career due to family commitments, I later gained a Level 3 diploma in adult counselling before completing a children and young adult counselling degree.

I was very aware that there was a wealth of support for adults, although in my opinion, very little for children and young people. After spending much of my time in education and social care, I soon identified that schools and authorities were stretched and therefore finding it increasingly difficult to juggle education and mental health needs.

I decided to train for 3 years and I successfully completed 100 hours of counselling practice before qualifying as an integrative children and young adults counsellor.
I use a range of play, toys, sand tray, art and communication methods when working with younger clients to understand and support children.
With older clients, I tend to use more talk therapy and may use art-based materials to explore emotions that may be difficult to talk about.

As well as my private practice I also support students therapeutically in local primary and Supported Educational Needs schools; where I can offer 1:1 support and group therapy sessions to meet the needs of children and young adults.
