Emotional  Triggers

Emotional triggers vary from to person.

They may include: unwanted memories, uncomfortable topics, or another person's actions or words.

Common situations that trigger and may increase the likelihood of intense emotions are:

Rejection, betrayal, challenged beliefs, helpless and hopelessness, criticism, insecurity, feeling unwanted or a loss of belonging.

Children and young adults who are already vulnerable are more likely to have difficulty when managing emotional triggers.

Counselling can help to uncover and manage these emotional triggers.
